If you are looking for a sweet short Christmas romance, this novella is for you!
Isabelle is a servant. She works for a young woman and befriends her. The woman, Lady Theodosia is to be betrothed to a lord. She requests Isabelle to accompany her to a masquerade ball and reluctantly Isabelle agrees. Isabelle meets a man there and they fall in love with each other.
When Lady Theodosia meets her betrothed, Adrian, for the first time he realizes that her servant, Isabelle, is the woman from the ball and that he can't be with anyone else but her.
I really thought this book would be more exciting, more scandalous. It was a fast read and for the most part I did enjoy it, however I was a bit disappointed. I found that I really disliked Isabelle always feeling sorry for herself because she knew she couldn't have Lord Adrian. I disliked how Adrian thought he was such a catch for this poor servant and how he felt sorry for her because she had to watch him woo his betrothed.
I am not a big fan of female characters who feel helpless and do nothing to help themselves. I think I would have rather enjoyed it more if she was being chased by Lord Adrian. Isabelle playing hard to get, instead of " Hey I am over here in a corner feeling sorry for myself, please find someone to take Lady Theodosia so that I might be able to have you". Throughout most of the book he only went to talk to her a few times. There was no chasing really just them reminding each other they can't be together.
The overall book was nice. I did enjoy it for the most part. It was sweet and the ending was perfect. If you are looking for a sweet Christmas romance then this book is for you. It is a fast short read but it is enjoyable!
